Imagine setting up a password like “4 score! and 7 years ago, our 4 fathers brought 4th on this continent”. Now imagine only having to type that when you reboot… ONLY when you reboot. Any other time you just confirm the iPhone or Apple Watch notification. Imagine walking into the room and having your Mac spring to life and ask you on your Phone or watch if you want to login. Imagine leaving the room and your Mac automatically locks and tells you on your phone as you leave. Welcome to MacID

Im still kicking myself for not using this app earlier! Its phenomonal! Its so fast and theres so maclny other features built in than just unlocking your Mac. Its so cool and just works! Id pay twice as much for this app, buy it!

This app really does make getting into your Mac convenient, and it also greatly enhances the security in my opinion. The fact that the app allows you to lock your Mac when you walk away from it, as well as unlock it when you walk back to it, is by far my favorite feature of the app. Its the main way youll likely use it (if you enable it) and it works extremely well. I can just walk back to my Mac, and it unlocks itself, and Im ready to work. Overall, this is a fantastic app. I highly recommend it.

This app is awesome. It works great and if I were you, Id get it now!

As soon as you close the Mac lid the app crashes on the Mac and iPhone stops responding . Terrible payment!

Does what is says it does.

I recently bought a macbook 12". While I absolutely love it, one thing I really wished it had is touch ID, like my phone does. Well, this is even better. This app is easy to use, and works great. You can manually lock or unlock your mac from either your phone or your apple watch. That is what I bought the app to do, and was happy with just that. But you can also control the audio of your mac through the app. This is great, as I often use my mac as a jukebox with spotify when I have people over. Now I can control tracks without having to touch the computer. And another feature I did not expect, is auto lock. I walk away from the computer, it locks. When I come back, it unlocks. I work in an office with five other people, and this never ceases to amaze them. I only wish every app purchase was this good. Honestly, this functionality should be built into OS X and iOS to begin with. But the developer of this app has done a great job adding it in.

Ive been looking for an app that I can use to unlock my Mac with and Ive tried eveything from the free ones that dont work at all to apps like Knock, but I have found that the MacID app provides the most functionality and is the easiest to use. It works perfectly whenver I use it, and the tap to unlock feature using the mac trackpad is a huge bonus. I dont think I have typed my password to unlock my mac since Ive gotten this app. The music controls built in make this app worth it. Bravo to the developer.

This app works beautiful with youre iPhone and Mac.

The desktop app is garbage. Itll connect/reconnect to unauthorized Bluetooth devices endlessly.

Works about half the time. For short trips away from my iMac, it works fine. It locks and unlocks the screen very nicely. But on longer trips of an hour or more, it seems to lose the connection and requires logging in manually. If it had been a try before you buy app, I wouldnt have bought it.

MacID continues to be one of the very few applications that I will *not* go without!

The concept is awesome. Great idea if it would just WORK! It constantly disconnects. When it works its awesome. great to be able to unlock Mac from Watch. But please UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE. I would even pay for an update. Just fix it.

Off the bat the app is good and is a great concept. I was using it until it started to become annoying. I purchased the app, because Im constantly going from my office to the warehouse and needed the security of locking automatically. However, whenever the app loses Bluetooth connection and then tries to reconnect, it notifies you that your Mac wants to be unlocked. If your moving around in an area, it can notify you a hundred times. Buzzing your phone and in my case my watch as well. Because it was so annoying I had to turn it off, defeating the whole beauty of it. I ask that you please remove this bug and notification once the app reconnects with the Mac, I dont need to be notified of that. Just let it notify me with proximity when already connected. Looking forward to this update and would then certainly give it five stars. Until then fingers crossed.

Very convenient... I have it set to automatically unlock and lock as I move around the office which means I no longer have to type in my password a few dozen times a day.

I decided when I moved to 1Password awhile back to also move to totally random, high entropy, obtuse password for my OS-X password. While I was able to finally develop the muscle memory to type in the new OS-X login password, it WAS still a PITA! Then I discovered MacID! Kane (software author) is the greatest. This is one of those apps that simply works well with the minimal user effort. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
